About The Author

Virginia Echevarria has spent the past six years working with families in her role as a community relations director in an assisted living facility. However, even before that, she was the daughter of a mother who needed all the care both of her children could give–and then some. Ginny and her brother went through all sorts of physical and emotional turmoil before their mother was sufficiently well cared for after they realized how significant their mother’s dementia had become. This succinct and highly readable book details how family members can avoid the pitfalls that caring for an aging parent, relative, or friend can pose. These pitfall can include family in-fighting, abuse, guilt, set-in-stone roles, blended families, and dealing with limitations, among others.

As many of the people who read this book have stated, “I should have read this book a long time ago–before Mom started to go downhill.”
